Moving offices without missing connections

IT2 planning guide · 3 minute read · Updated October 3, 2026

Plan the handoff before the boxes arrive.

Inventory what is moving

List the router, switches, access points, phones, printers, cameras and other equipment. Identify who manages each system and who holds its configuration or support details. Keep passwords out of public plans and ordinary photo attachments.

Map the new workspace

Mark desks, meeting rooms, shared printers and wireless coverage areas on the new floor plan. Compare that plan with existing outlets and the proposed network closet. Include future desks if their locations are already known, but separate confirmed needs from possible additions.

Coordinate the people who control the site

Confirm building access, loading arrangements and landlord rules with the appropriate contacts. Coordinate service activation with your internet provider and system changes with your IT administrator. Installation work and provider activation are separate dependencies.

Write a move sequence

Plan what can be prepared before moving day, what must wait until equipment arrives and who will check each system. Keep an agreed fallback for essential work if a dependency slips. Do not cancel the previous connection until the responsible people have confirmed the replacement works.

Define the checks that matter

Agree on the devices and business tasks to test: connecting a workstation, printing, joining a meeting or accessing the required systems. Record failures and the person responsible for resolving each one. A cable connection alone does not prove every application is ready.

Leave a useful handover

Request outlet labels, equipment locations and a record of the completed scope. Store the plan where the people maintaining the space can find it. For your estimate, share the move date, device counts, new layout and any limits on downtime.

This guide helps you prepare a project. Final scope, pricing, access requirements and availability require a site-specific review.

A few details are enough. Photos help if you have them. We’ll discuss availability and set up the survey around your hours.

Questions

Is the site survey really free?

Yes. We come out, look at the space and give you a written quote. You decide after that.

Do you work on homes or only businesses?

Both. Offices, shops, restaurants, warehouses and homes that need real wiring instead of extenders.

Can you reuse the wiring I already have?

Often, yes. We test what is there first and only replace what fails or does not fit the new equipment.

Do you supply the equipment?

We can supply everything, or install equipment you already bought. The quote shows each item separately.

How can I prepare a clearer estimate request?

Share the city, scope, quantities, building type, existing equipment and preferred schedule. Photos of the rack, ceilings and cable routes help explain the starting point.

Can I add photos, PDFs and floor plans?

Yes. Prepare up to 25 files totaling 100 MB, including several selection batches. The details and original files download together as a ZIP package. Online delivery is being connected; this does not submit your request.

Does the project assistant book or dispatch a technician?

The assistant guides you through project preparation. It does not confirm availability, book work or dispatch a technician. Your saved request needs the team’s review.
